Resource Teacher of Literacy (RTLit)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced educator for the position of Resource Teacher of Literacy (RTLit) to join our Tauranga Central Cluster. Based at Gate Pā School, the RTLit will support teachers in enhancing literacy instruction, with a focus on Structured Literacy approaches such as BSLA and support students in Years 1-8 who are at risk with literacy learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert support in literacy delivery and professional learning.
- Work with teachers to implement structured literacy approaches.
- Support Māori and Pasifika students with literacy deficiencies through culturally responsive practices.
- Build professional relationships with staff, students, whānau, and external agencies.
- Monitor progress and ensure effective implementation of tiered literacy support.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven classroom teaching experience in reading and writing.
- Expertise in Structured Literacy approaches, including BSLA.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively within professional learning communities.
- Academic qualifications in Literacy Education, including a Postgraduate Diploma.
- High energy and passion for literacy development and research.
